LO2: (P2) Scope the personal media profile for an identified purpose

(P2)

I have chosen to create a personal media profile based on my career pathway of videography. The reasons for creating a website are to showcase my skills I hold, which is useful for showing universities and employers who would be interested in seeing my work. Another reason is that I can keep all my work within that pathway in the same place, so if an employer wanted to access work I created they can see everything else I have produced which may be important to them. A website is also a great reason to show my skills digitally because they are easily accessible to everyone because they have been  digitised, therefore I won't lose any of my work and anyone globally can access it.

Audio Visual (Unit 5,15,20)

I Used Adobe Premier to create and edit content. E.G two examples of tools used for example razor tool, b&w and the effects created. The reason we used Adobe Premier is that it is industry standard which mean professionals use it. It is known as a .PROJ file which means  it is a lossless file that is high quality, layer audio and visuals together which means it high quality- looks good when we export it. You can also keep on editing the file. We needed to repurpose it so it accessible to all people, not everyone has Adobe premiere and can’t be uploaded online. Another important reason to repurpose is that it is a large file. You have to repurpose to H.264- MP4 which is lossy (lower resolution, file size is smaller, easy to upload and download online) as It is universally compatible

Audio Products (Unit 14)

You repurpose this exactly the same as audio visual MP4 but it is MP3. Professionals use WAV that is a lossless file type which is used for audio editing in a professional industry. WAV is not universal therefore you need to export as MP3. To repurpose you need to upload to Audition which you can work in layers, it is also lossless. You can’t also get an audition file online due to the same reasons of Premier.

Print/ Graphic Design (Unit 3,7,20,22)

I used Adobe InDesign. IND which is a desktop publication programme- layout and conventions, this is a lossless file type which you save as a print PDF that is universal and easy to upload and download, another advantage is that it’s a read only file

Photoshop .PSD which is known as an image manipulation software, this is also a lossless file type which is large film. You can save these as a TIF files which are universal and are used for print files that is a lossless file type- anything printed A3 and bigger, if it wasn’t used it can look pixelated. You can also save them as JPEG and Raw these are large files because you can edit them in layers which each have their own properties, so the higher quality that file is. Similarly, to Audio and audio-visual projects you can’t get them online as they are not accessible to everyone, difficult to upload and download taking up a lot of storage and time. JPEGs are used more often as they can both be compressed as a lossy and lossless file type which shows that it is very universal, which we tend not to repurpose as you can keep editing them. If you want to put them online you need to repurpose as lossy. However, if it is a RAW file you repurpose as a JPEG to put them online.
